I supervise at the Brooklyn College Personal Counseling Center. In this setting I meet with therapists in training, both individually and in a group setting, and help to train them to be psychotherapists. I also do private supervision on an individual basis.
Supervision offers the opportunity to observe and individual as they evolve clinically and to help them know themselves in that role. I see my goal as being someone they can use as a mirror for the experience of learning to do therapy. Consequently I do not re-analyze the client they are talking about but rather try hard to concentrate on the therapist and his/her struggles in working with the client presented.
